All these results create a vicious circle and cause an increase in pain.

Low back and neck pain caused by multifactorial causes requires a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of posture disorders. Exercise has an important place among these approaches. It is important to control and strengthen the central muscles, also called core muscles, in exercises. These core muscles consisting of pelvic floor muscles, diaphragm muscle, abdominal and back muscles play a key role in lumbar spine stability.

Pilates exercises are also an exercise approach that focuses on the core muscles and is widely used therapeutically. Therefore, mat pilates and reformer pilates have been used quite frequently in rehabilitation in recent years. In order to eliminate the negative consequences of sedentary life, physical activity should be done at least 3-4 days a week, regularly for more than half an hour, in a way that ensures the functioning of large muscle groups. At the same time, regular physical activity practices affect people not only physically but also mentally.

Reformer pilates, which is quite different from normal pilates, is done with the help of instruments instead of using a mat. It aims to help the body gain strength, endurance and flexibility “with its own weight” thanks to specially designed instruments. These instruments are Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel, Chair and Spine Connector. Movements are applied not against gravity, but against the resistance of the springs.

The practices in the Pilates system can be shaped according to the angle and strength of the person’s movement. Each pilates exercise works with extremity movements, using pilates instruments, while also adjusting the resistance of the instruments. In this context, movements are combined with appropriate breath control and mind-body technique. Pilates exercises are shaped around some basic movements. Movements are classified as beginner, intermediate, advanced, and super advanced.
